Plastic Storage Boxes

The well-organized home is full of plastic storage boxes of all types and sizes. You can find them in the garage, closets, basement, attic, closets and under the bed. Plastic storage boxs are used to store everything from argyle sweaters to zippers and more.

When you go to the store to purchase plastic storage boxes, you find a huge array to choose from. There are small, medium and large plastic storage boxes, depending on what you need to store. The large ones are great for Christmas lights and Halloween decorations, while the small containers can store stuff as tiny as your spare button collection. Clear plastic storage boxes are a great idea too, so you can see what’s in them, but they don’t look quite as neat and tidy as the opaque ones. It’s a trade-off.

A popular choice is the hinged plastic storage containers. These have lids that flip up to open the box and reveal the contents, and flip down and lock together to close the box. This is very convenient as you always know where the lid is. It’s attached! Lockable plastic storage containers are also popular. The lid handles lock down onto the container to keep the lid on securely and, in some cases, make an airtight seal.

Speaking of plastic storage boxes with lids, the best kind of storage containers of all are stackable plastic storage containers. These are available in all kind of configurations. In some of the types that are storage bins, you don’t even have to move the top box to open an access door to the box below! Most of them however have feet on the bottom of them that slip into grooves on the lids, so that when you stack them, they stay stacked neatly and are stable. This can save you money, because you don’t have to buy shelves in order to get a lot of stuff stored neatly away in your garage, attic or basement. Just pack, stack and store…it’s that simple!

Rubbermaid plastic storage boxes are the most widely used brand for good reason. They are extremely durable and weather resistant. They don’t crack like other brands do after being exposed to cold weather or simply by being in use for a long time. So while you may think you saved money at the outset, in the long run you’ll spend more by having to buy the other brand more often.
